Artista visuale, Laura Frus è pittrice, scultrice, illustratrice, docente e performer di disegno e ritratto dal vero. Nata a Torino, dopo la maturità artistica conseguita presso il Liceo Artistico Cottini, e gli studi in Fashion Design presso la Scuola Triennale di Arte e Moda “Montesano, si è laureata in Pittura all’Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti di Torino con i Maestri Sergio Saroni, Mario Davico e Roberto Villa. Ancora giovanissima, approda professionalmente nel mondo dell’arte collaborando con numerosi studi grafici e fondando, negli Anni ’80, l’Accademia Pictor, nell’ambito della quale ha creato il Progetto “Profili d’Artista” dedicato all’incontro tra Maestri e giovani talenti. Un programma finalizzato alla formazione didattica e alla valorizzazione dell’arte contemporanea attraverso corsi, workshops specialistici, incontri d’arte, mostre in collaborazione con biblioteche, musei, fondazioni. In parallelo alla docenza di disegno presso la stessa Accademia di Venaria Reale, svolge un’intensa attività espositiva soprattutto in progetti artistico-culturali promossi da enti pubblici e privati, approdando recentemente alla partecipazione di eventi Live e performativi a diretto contatto con il pubblico e in condivisione con artisti di diverso linguaggio. In questa ottica sono nati workshops urbani e altri di viaggio nei luoghi della storia dell’arte, tra cui Parigi e Vienna. La sua ricerca, in continua evoluzione, si sviluppa sul tema dell’incontro tra Oriente e Occidente, e all’arte come pensiero universale che accomuna le culture del mondo, tra i cui simboli millenari vi sono il Fiore della Vita, il Mandala, le Geometrie Sacre e il Labirinto espressi in opere di pittura, in installazioni e tecniche miste con materiali assemblati, recuperati e non convenzionali. Alla base del suo pensiero vi è l’armonia e il rispetto verso la natura e le persone; un percorso sfociato nel 2025 con il Movimento da lei fondato Ethical Art, presentato con una mostra collettiva di artisti liberi alla Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria di Torino. E’ autrice di una serie di pubblicazioni tra le quali si annoverano Favole Contemporanee e Favole e piccole storie, accanto alla rivisitazione delle favole di Leonardo e di Esopo per arrivare ai Detti e Proverbi dell’Antica Roma; progetti sviluppati con il coinvolgimento dei suoi studenti, anche giovanissimi, nella realizzazione delle tavole illustrate. Sue opere sono conservate presso la Collezione di Palazzo dei Vicari – Museo dei Ferri Taglienti, Scarperia (Firenze), nella Collezione di Arte Contemporanea delle Biblioteche civiche Torinesi – Villa Amoretti, nella Collezione Internazionale di Fiber Art “Trame d’Autore – Restart – Museo Relazionale” della Città di Chieri – Torino, presso il “MUBI – Museo in Biblio”, Biblioteca Civica A. Arduino di Moncalieri e nella Collezione Civica del Comune di Cambiano.
BIOGRAPHY
Visual artist Laura Frus is a painter, sculptor, illustrator, teacher, and performer specializing in drawing and life portraiture.
Born in Turin, after earning her artistic high school diploma at the Cottini Art High School and completing studies in Fashion Design at the “Montesano” Three-Year School of Art and Fashion, she graduated in Painting from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, where she studied under Masters Sergio Saroni, Mario Davico, and Roberto Villa.
At a very young age, she entered the professional art world, collaborating with numerous graphic design studios and, in the 1980s, founding the Accademia Pictor. Within this framework, she created the project “Profili d’Artista” (Artists’ Profiles), dedicated to fostering encounters between established masters and young talents. This program focused on educational training and the promotion of contemporary art through courses, specialized workshops, art meetings, and exhibitions in collaboration with libraries, museums, and foundations.
Alongside her teaching activity in drawing at the same Academy in Venaria Reale, she has pursued an intense exhibition career, particularly within artistic and cultural projects promoted by public and private institutions. More recently, this has led her to participate in live and performative events in direct contact with the public and in collaboration with artists working in different expressive languages. From this perspective, urban workshops and travel workshops in historically significant art cities—such as Paris and Vienna—have taken shape.
Her constantly evolving research develops around the theme of the encounter between East and West, and around art as a universal form of thought that unites the cultures of the world. Among the ancient symbols she explores are the Flower of Life, the Mandala, Sacred Geometry, and the Labyrinth, expressed through painting, installations, and mixed-media works using assembled, reclaimed, and unconventional materials.
At the core of her philosophy lie harmony and respect for nature and people—an artistic path that culminated in 2025 with the founding of the Ethical Art Movement, which she presented through a collective exhibition of independent artists at the National University Library of Turin.
She is the author of several publications, including Favole Contemporanee (Contemporary Fables) and Favole e piccole storie (Fables and Short Stories), as well as reinterpretations of the fables of Leonardo and Aesop, extending to the Sayings and Proverbs of Ancient Rome. These projects were developed with the involvement of her students, including very young ones, in the creation of the illustrated plates.
Her works are held in the collection of the Palazzo dei Vicari – Museo dei Ferri Taglienti in Scarperia (Florence); in the Contemporary Art Collection of the Civic Libraries of Turin – Villa Amoretti; in the International Fiber Art Collection “Trame d’Autore – Restart – Museo Relazionale” of the City of Chieri (Turin); at the MUBI – Museo in Biblio, Civic Library A. Arduino of Moncalieri; and in the Civic Collection of the Municipality of Cambiano.
